Deflation Occurred in August 2025

Tegal, (1/9) - The Tegal Municipality Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded deflation of 0.02 percent (month-to-month) in August 2025. "There was an increase in the consumer price index (CPI) from 109.28 in July 2025 to 109.26 in August 2025," stated the Head of BPS Tegal Municipality, Eman Sulaeman. This contrasts with August 2024, when inflation was 0.01 percent. Annually, inflation was 2.62 percent, and calendar-year inflation was 1.57 percent.

The expenditure group contributing the most to monthly deflation was food, beverages, and tobacco, which experienced deflation of 0.28 percent, with a deflationary contribution of 0.09 percent. The household equipment, tools, and routine maintenance group experienced deflation of 0.16 percent, with a deflationary contribution of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the transportation group experienced monthly inflation of 0.40 percent in August 2025, contributing 0.04 percent to inflation. The personal care and other services group experienced monthly inflation of 0.43 percent, contributing 0.03 percent to inflation. The clothing and footwear group experienced monthly inflation of 0.15 percent in August 2025, contributing 0.01 percent to inflation. "Commodities that predominantly contributed to deflation were cayenne pepper, tomatoes, chicken eggs, gasoline, laundry freshener/softener, oranges, garlic, granulated sugar, coconut, rice, chayote/jipang, and Chinese cabbage/pecay/pitsai. Meanwhile, commodities that predominantly contributed to m-to-m inflation in August 2025 included: train fares, mackerel/banyar fish, shallots, chicken meat, motorcycles, gold jewelry, hand-rolled kretek cigarettes (SKT), cooking oil, cucumbers, and red chilies.

In August 2025, expenditure groups that contributed to year-on-year inflation were: food, beverages, and tobacco at 1.08 percent; clothing and footwear at 0.02 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuels at 0.18 percent; health at 0.09 percent; transportation at 0.16 percent; "Recreation, sports, and culture approached 0 percent; education at 0.31 percent; food and beverage/restaurants at 0.31 percent; and personal care and other services at 0.51 percent.

Meanwhile, expenditure groups contributing to year-on-year deflation were household supplies, equipment, and routine maintenance at 0.01 percent; and information, communication, and financial services at 0.03 percent," Eman continued.


Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of Star-rated Hotels in July 2025 Decreases

The Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of star-rated hotels in Tegal Municipality in July 2025 was recorded at 29.95 percent, a decrease of -0.82 points compared to the TPK in June 2025, which was recorded at 30.77 percent. Meanwhile, when compared to the same period in 2024, the July 2025 ROR decreased by -4.27 points compared to the July 2024 ROR of 34.22 percent. The ROR and ROR measurements are based on monthly data collected at 16 star-rated hotels in Tegal Municipality.

The highest ROR in July 2025 was recorded at 3-star hotels at 35.32 percent, and the lowest at 1-star hotels at 11.08 percent.

The average length of stay (ROR) for star-rated hotel guests in July 2025 was 1.12 nights, an increase of 0.04 points compared to 1.08 nights in June 2025.

In July 2025, the ROR for international guests was 1.46 nights, a decrease of -0.24 points compared to 1.70 nights in June 2025. Meanwhile, the RLM for domestic guests was recorded at 1.12 nights, an increase of 0.04 points compared to the RLM in June 2024, which was 1.08 nights.
